2008 Wage Review
This decision takes effect from the first pay period on or after 1 October 2008.
The Australian Fair Pay Commission handed down an increase of $21.66 per week in the standard Federal Minimum Wage and in all Pay Scales (for employees on 38 hours per week).
This wage increase only applies to you if you operate under the Federal IR Laws. This means your company is Pty Ltd or is a Constitutional Corporation, or if your business is in Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, or the Northern Territory.
Overview of increase for different wage rates:
- the new Federal Minimum Wage rate will be increased by $0.57 per hour to $14.31 per hour
- basic periodic rates of pay are increased by $0.57 per hour
- juniors, apprentices and trainees receive increases in the same way as the Commission’s 2007 decision (e.g. in proportion to full adult rates in the relevant pay scale).
These increases flow on to junior employees, employees to whom training arrangements apply, employees with a disability, casual employees and employees receiving basic piece rates of pay.
The new wage rates will be available on the Qrtsa website in the Members Only Section closer to October.
