Head Office Staff

Scott Driscoll is the Executive Director of The Retailers
Association, the peak national industry association in Australia for the
independent retail sector.

As Executive Director, Scott has overall executive responsibility for the
Association nationally. With the Association head office in Brisbane and offices
also in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, Scott has developed and
overseen the successful expansion of The Retailers Association
Australiawide, on the back of The Retailers Association having a longstanding,
strong reputation and foundation in the retail sector for the last 120 years. 

Prior to joining The Retailers Association, Scott held several senior positions in
the corporate sector and also owned his own businesses in the industrial
relations and human resource consulting sectors. He is also a qualified financial
advisor, having worked with major financial institutions including Westpac
Business Bank and Suncorp.

Key aspects of Scott's role as Executive Director include liaison, negotiation and
lobbying of Governments at all levels across the country. He also has a high
profile in the national media and is regularly featured throughout the country in
print and on radio and television making comment on industry and commerce.

Scott sits on various national boards as a Director, including the National Association of Retail Grocers of Australia (NARGA) and the National
Independent Retailers Association (NIRA). He is also a member of  the Lord Mayor's Business Round Table in Brisbane.

In his capacity as the head of a national peak industry body, Scott also formally
meets with and briefs the Reserve Bank of Australia on a monthly basis,
outlining industry and financial trends nationally.

Ken Murphy joined The Retailers Association, as the Head of
Corporate Development,  after over 17 years as CEO of the
Queensland  Newsagents Federation Ltd.

Ken has qualifications as a CPA and extensive industry association
management background.

Ken’s past career involvement includes executive positions in the hospitality
industry and also with sports entertainment having worked for a large hotel
group and holding of senior positions in AFL football in Qld and Victoria.

Ken recieved outstanding recognition in 2008 by being an inaugral inductee into the AFL QLD Hall of fame for his contributions to AFL Football.

Additionally Ken has held CEO position with a specialist industry brokerage
specialising in the sale of businesses.

Ken participated for some years with the Qld Small Business Advisory
Committee as set up by the Qld Government.

He participated in a number of industry delegations to both Federal and State
Governments on behalf of his industry network as well as some ‘across
retailing’ representation on various matters.

Ken also conducted comprehensive training courses for incoming newsagents
as well as seminars and conferences and was editor of a trade magazine that
was distributed throughout the newsagency network as well as to major
suppliers and industry associates.

Ken’s role as Head of Corporate Development includes all corporate alignment
with The Retailers Association' and independent retailer membership.

Justine Kay has a Bachelor of Business Management, majoring in
Industrial Relations and Human Resources, from the University of
Queensland.  Justine also has 8 years experience in the retail
industry. 

Justine can assist members in providing HR and IR support, advising members
on issues such as correct and up to date wage rates, relevant penalty rates,
and calculations of annual and long service leave and advising on allowable
trading hours for all classifications of stores. She can also assist members by
creating Collective Agreements for businesses and their staff, Justine manages
the process from initial consultation right through to registration of the
Collective Agreements for members, making the process extremely easy and
highly cost effective.

Summer Adams is Administrations Manager and Assistant to the
Executive Director, Scott Driscoll.

Summer manages the overall administrative aspects of the Head Office
including providing administrative support functions for the Executive Director’s
Office. In addition to also acting in the Reception role, Summer directly assists in
the Administrative Management of the Membership and Industrial Relations
divisions of The Retailers Association.

Summer also handles, for the Executive Director, everything from appointments
and enquiries, through to acting as liaison between the Executive Director and
external parties such as the media, corporates and governments.

Jammi Keys is our Receptionist and Administration Officer in our Head Office.

Jammi had worked in the retail sector prior to joining us at The Retailers Association and is a friendly and helpful person our members can call on when they require support from us. Jammi will assist members by identifying their requirements and ensure they are quickly transferred to the right person within our organisation, for immediate assistance.

Jammi also assists with the diary and event management for our Executive Director, Scott Driscoll, along with managing other general administrative tasks within our Head Office.

Don Jowett has had a long association with the Retailers Association.
Currently he is the Accounts Manager. As such, he assists us one
day each week with all of the general accounts keeping for our
association.

Previous to this, he acted as the treasurer on the executive committee for
The Retailers Association. Don was also the company secretary for Retravision
QLD for a number of years.

at the University of Queensland.
